Psyche's Candle

Our Psyche’s Candle charm takes its inspiration from the Greek myth of Psyche and Eros. Here we are referring to the fateful moment when Psyche, forbidden to look upon her mysterious lover, finally gives in to curiosity. By the light of her candle, she discovers that her husband is none other than beautiful Eros, God of Love. But in her excitement, a drop of hot wax falls from the candle and wakes him. He flies away, leaving Psyche to embark on a series of trials to win him back. Our miniature interpretation of the candle captures that moment of revelation, tilted to the side. At the heart of the story is trust. The difficult, delicate act of loving someone without being able to see the whole picture. Psyche is asked to trust in a love she cannot quite understand — and when curiosity gets the better of her, that trust is broken. Yet her journey ultimately becomes one of devotion, perseverance and learning to trust again. This charm was entirely hand carved from jeweller’s wax, before being cast into metal. We chose to partially gold plate it, to enhance its intricate details. We offer it here as a pendant, on a fine cable chain.

Jewellery care:

Gold plating is not eternal and with time, your jewellery piece will go back to silver. In order to preserve the gold colour as long as possible, make sure to remove your jewellery when showering and avoid contact with perfumes and lotions.
