The Fallen Star
The story behind this pendant sparkles in the hazy depths of my childhood memories but I haven't been able to find its original source.
Once upon a time, there was a princess who came of age to be married. She was not happy at this idea at all, so she decided to set an impossible task, agreeing to marry the first person to bring her a fallen star as a gift. Many princes and dignitaries brought her all kinds of exotic gifts but none were a fallen star. The princess was delighted that her plan worked, until one day, a young man rode up to the castle asking for his reward of the princess' hand in marriage. The princess came down to see the young man who waited next to an old apple tree. She watched him took his bow and arrow and shot a ripe apple from the tree. He then sliced it open to reveal the hidden star pattern of the seeds inside the apple. She conceded the bet was won. They were married and lived happily ever after.
